Colorado Ag Classic Planned for December 7-8

The seventh annual Colorado Ag Classic will be held December 7-8 at the Embassy Suites in Loveland, Colo.

The National Corn Growers Association reminds farmers and their allies to submit comments opposing a petition filed with the Environmental Protection Agency that would ban atrazine use and production before the public comment period closes on November 14. The petition, originally submitted this spring by an activist organization named Save the Frogs, asks for both further review of this proven herbicide and regulatory changes.

Kansas native and American Ethanol spokesman, Clint Bowyer, won his first race of the year in dramatic fashion at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday as he raced to the front in the last lap to claim victory in the Good Sam Club 500. This also marks Bowyer’s first race win since becoming spokesman for American Ethanol, of which the National Corn Growers Association is a founding member.

“We are all incredibly proud of Bowyer and elated to congratulate him on this important victory,” said NCGA NASCAR Advisory Committee Chair Martin Barbre.

INDIANAPOLIS - Oct 21, 2011 - As the National FFA Organization celebrates a record-setting year this week at the 84th National FFA Convention, an agreement with Farm American and Furniture Row Racing has put agricultural education on the fast track in 2012.

Together, FFA and Farm American announced Friday that the National FFA Organization will become a communications partner with Farm American for the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Season.

On October 18, 2011, the U.S. EPA amended the date by which farms must prepare or amend and implement their Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, to May 10, 2013. If EPA receives no adverse comment by November 2, 2011, then the rule will become effective on November 7, 2011.

An overwhelming segment of the continental United States was affected by flooding during the spring and summer of 2011.
