Colorado Corn
Confused about the impact of the proposed farm bill? Wondering about the true impact of ethanol on the environment and food prices? The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) has taken a step to help growers and the general public learn more about some of agriculture’s “hot button” issues.
NCGA’s new “Share the Facts” portion of its Web site contains facts, figures and resources about agricultural issues in the public eye. Topics such as ethanol, sustainable agriculture and the proposed 2007 farm bill are addressed through fact sheets and background information.
“It’s important for our members to have this information at their fingertips,” said NCGA President Ken McCauley. “Growers are the best, most credible advocates for agriculture. We want to make sure they have honest, factual answers to questions they might be asked.”
The new section brings together many NCGA resources ranging from brief facts to large reports. It includes links that make it easy for users to contact their elected representatives and news media. It can be opened directly from the home page of NCGA’s site.
McCauley hopes the general public will also use the site.
“We’re proud of our role in supplying the world with food, feed and energy in a way that helps preserve the environment,” he says. “We hope that whenever people read or hear some of the outlandish claims that are being made about agriculture, they’ll look to our Web site as a credible source to learn the true story.”
