July 16, 2012 - 1:49pm

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – To celebrate the Grand Opening of the ninth E85 fueling station in Colorado Springs, for two hours on Wednesday, July 25, owners of flex-fuel vehicles can fill up at the Kum & Go location in Colorado Springs for 85 cents a gallon.

The Grand Opening event for the Kum & Go at 2190 Vickers Drive in Colorado Springs will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is brought to you by Kum & Go, Colorado Corn and the Southern Colorado Clean Cities Coalition.

“Kum & Go is a leader in biofuels with 95 locations with E85 and 69 biodiesel locations in 11 states,” said Matt Chase, retail fuels manager for the company.  “We have nine E85 locations in Colorado and have plans for even more by the end of 2012.”

E85 is a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent regular gasoline that can be used in flex-fuel vehicles to reduce emissions and support a domestically produced (and domestically grown) renewable resource.

“We are excited to be a partner with Kum & Go in this venture,” said Mark Sponsler, Colorado Corn executive director. “The support they have shown for ethanol demonstrates a commitment to our environment and our country.”

Radio stations 94.3 KILO and 103.9 RXP will be hosting live remote broadcasts from the event which will also feature experts on-hand to provide information about using alternative fuels in fleets or for personal use.
