Colorado Corn
Cultivating Opportunities
Colorado Corn Growers Association Members and Corn Producers,
I hope you all are doing well as wheat harvest is upon us!
I wanted to personally remind each of you the National Corn Yield Contest Deadline is nearing.
The National Corn Yield Contest (NCYC), the premier yield contest of every corn growing season, will celebrate 45 years of challenges, rewards and yields that were not even considered attainable a few years ago. There was a record 6,727 entrants last year. The top irrigated yield in 2008 NCYC was 368 bushels per acre and the top non-irrigated yield was 348 bushels per acre. Every year producers are doing more and more with less. You could be the one to have the highest yielding corn in 2009!!
Winners will receive national recognition in publications, such as the NCYC Corn Yield Guide and at the National Awards Banquet and State Awards Breakfast at the 2010 Commodity Classic in Anaheim, Calif. More importantly, growers experience the challenge and satisfaction of learning production techniques that will enhance their corn yields. In addition to the above recognition, Colorado winners will also be recognized at the Colorado Corn Growers Association Annual Business Meeting and Banquet, held on January 26 at the Clarion Hotel in Greeley.
To be eligible for the $75 entry fee rate, mailed entries must be postmarked or submitted online no later than July 10. The final deadline is August 1.
Simply visit the website link and fill out an entry form online. You will need your membership ID in order to enter the contest, if you are not sure what your membership ID is please call, (970) 351-8201 or email Katrina at: kdavis@coloradocorn.com, and she can provide it.
Thanks!
