The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will hold a series of workshops around the state to receive input from the key stakeholders on various elements of Colorado’s State Freight and Passenger Rail Plan (SFPRP).

The SFPRP will provide guidance for investing in future rail needs and present ways to enhance passenger and freight rail development to support economic growth and environmental sustainability.  The Plan is due to be completed in January 2012.

The schedule and location of these workshops are as follows:

• Monday, August 15, 2011, 2-4 p.m., Washington County Events Center, 551 West 2^nd Street in Akron
• Wednesday, August 17, 2011, 2-4 p.m., Limon Community Building, 477 D Avenue in Limon
• Tuesday, August, 23, 2011, 2-4 p.m., Colorado Department of Transportation Headquarters – CDOT Auditorium, 4201 East Arkansas Avenue in Denver
• Thursday, August, 25, 2011, 2-4 p.m., Mesa County Courthouse—Multipurpose Room, 544 Rood Avenue in Grand Junction
• Wednesday, August 31, 2011, 2-4 p.m., Otero Junior College – Student Center, 1802 Colorado Avenue in La Junta
• Thursday, September 1, 2011, 2-4 p.m., Alamosa County Administration Building –Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 8900 Independence Way in Alamosa

In addition to the workshops, CDOT will host an open house following each workshop to allow the public an opportunity to comment on the various aspects of improving the movement of freight and passengers in a safe, efficient and reliable manner in Colorado.   The open houses will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. on the dates and at the locations noted above.
