Corn Growers Welcomes Republican River Agreement

Colorado’s farmers  in the Republican River Basin will achieve a measure of their water conservation goals, thanks to an agreement announced earlier this week by Congresswoman Betsy Markey and Senator Michael Bennet. “While it’s unfortunate that Colorado’s farmers would be taking land out of production, the agreement will at least take the edge off the financial impact to farmers,” said Mark Sponsler, CEO of Colorado Corn.

Corn Growers members volunteer for duty

The All American Beef Battalion, Colorado Corn, M&M Co-op, and students from Idalia High School worked as a well-oiled machine to set up tables and serve steaks to troops returning from duty in Iraq and their families at Ft. Carson. More than 1,200 soldiers, spouses, sons, and daughters enjoyed the Oct. 17 event.

National Survey Finds Strong Support for Corn Farmers, Corn Ethanol

A nationwide survey conducted for the National Corn Growers Association found broad public respect and trust for family farmers and support for corn as food, feed and fuel. Ninety-five percent of those polled find farmers to be trusted messengers on issues such as agriculture, corn products and ethanol – and ethanol itself was supported or strongly supported as a good fuel alternative by 65 percent.

“This high level of support for farmers is not surprising,” said Mark Sponsler, CEO of Colorado Corn. “Agriculture is one of the leading engines driving Colorado’s economy.

Colorado Corn Hires Communications Director

Greeley (October 21, 2009) – Bob Kjelland is joining Colorado Corn as director of communications, announces Mark Sponsler, chief executive officer of the organization. “Colorado Corn continues to move forward in working on behalf of the state’s corn farmers. The addition of Bob to our staff further strengthens our current professional team,” says Sponsler.

Kjelland will be responsible for Colorado Corns overall communications strategy development, including handling media relations and preparing the association’s newsletter to members.
