We have an opportunity to participate in the first significant water storage project proposed in decades. It is called the Northern Integrated Supply Project or NISP.
The decision on this project will determine in part our ability to contribute to the economic growth and the advancement of our quality of life we will have in Northern Colorado.
We’re asking for 5 minutes of your time to complete a very important online survey regarding the corn industry. In return, you could win $350 in tools!
The Corn Vision Project is a cooperative effort of state corn organizations to set direction for the future of farmer-driven corn organizations over the next five years. This project grew out of the realization that change in agriculture is occurring very rapidly, and the corn industry is facing unprecedented times.
In written comments to the Surface Transportation Board (STB), the National Corn Growers Association voiced its concern over the railroad industry’s request to discontinue shipping anhydrous ammonia—a source of nitrogen fertilizer. NCGA maintains that without anhydrous ammonia, U.S. farmers would be unable to produce the amount, or quality of food the world has come to rely on.
National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Vice President of Public Policy Jon Doggett spoke on Capitol Hill today on the importance of the Open Fuel Standard Act. The goal of the legislation is to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. Doggett was joined by U.S. Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS), Ken Salazar (D-CO), and Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) who support providing consumers with fuel choice in an effort to save money at the pump.

YUMA — Corn prices have more than tripled over the past few years, and wheat has more than doubled, but don't tell residents of Colorado's plains that they are in a boom.
"Maybe this isn't as good as we thought it would be," Phil Asmus, owner of Farmer Power & Equipment Inc. in Yuma, said of record grain prices.
Corn prices have crossed $7 a bushel this year, and wheat is more than $8, far above levels producers dreamed possible just a few years ago.
An expert on energy markets has warned that gas prices would jump almost immediately if the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were to grant Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s request for a partial waiver of the renewable fuels standard.
“Our analysis shows that $5 gasoline will just be the beginning,” energy market writer and publisher Tom Waterman said. “Prices in California within one month would reach $5.75 per gallon and head to $6 per gallon by summer’s end. The rest of the country will follow.”
The Aug. 1 cutoff date for entry forms for the National Corn Growers Association’s 2008 National Corn Yield Contest is only weeks away. With harvested corn acres expected to be the second-highest since the 1940s, growers are encouraged to sign up now for this annual event that highlights the success of their work.

AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry's request for a waiver of federal corn-based ethanol production mandates was prompted by a March meeting he had with East Texas poultry producer Lonnie "Bo" Pilgrim, who six days later gave $100,000 to the Republican Governors Association chaired by Perry.
