Corn Supply: The 2009 Crop

 

37%, 5.6 billion bushels, will be used for livestock feed. 29%, 4.3 billion bushels, will be used for ethanol and coproducts. 9%, 1.3 billion bushels, will be used for other domestic uses. 13%, 1.9 billion bushels, will be exported.

 

 Corn Uses: The 2009 Crop

 

  • U.S. corn producers harvested 13.1 billion bushels of field corn in fall 2009, from 79.6 million harvested acres. This was a national record.
     

  • The average U.S. yield was 164.9 bushels per acre, also a record.
     

  • Total corn supply was 14.8 billion bushels, taking into account a carry‐over of 1.7 billion bushels from the 2008 crop.
