Ethanol Facts

o Ethanol is a high-octane domestic and renewable fuel produced by the fermentation of plant sugars. Ethanol is typically produced from corn and other grain products.

o E-85 has an octane of approximately 105.

o Burns cleaner than gasoline.

o E-85 sells for approximately the same price as regular gasoline.

o Ethanol reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

o Ethanol is American made and reduces dependence on foreign oil.

o Ethanol is the only renewable transportation fuel.

o Ethanol increases the value of feed grain grown by farmers.

o Ethanol is biodegradable and wonít contaminate water.


Facts about Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFVs)

o Flex Fuel Vehicles can run on regular gasoline, E-85 or any combination.

o The only major difference between FFVs and gasoline-only vehicles is a fuel sensor that directs the ethanol/gasoline ratio. Some parts on the fuel system are slightly modified so they are ethanol compatible.

o FFVs don't cost any more than regular gasoline-only vehicles.
