Colorado Farmers Recognized in National Contest

For the second year in a row, a Colorado corn farm has taken a top honor in the National Corn Growers Association Corn Yield Contest.

Ute Mountain Farm & Ranch Enterprise of Towaoc, Colorado, took third place in the No-Till/Strip Till Irrigated Class, the same honor they won last year. This year, their yield was 315.1727 compared to 335.9325 bushels per acre last year.

Corn farmers in Holyoke, Springfield, Arapahoe, Stratton, Rocky Ford , Walsh and Pueblo took top honors in the corn yield contest in Colorado.

Nation's Corn Farmers Support American Ethanol Partnership with NASCAR

 The National Corn Growers Association and its state affiliates are among the organizations backing American Ethanol, a partnership including Growth Energy and NASCAR. This new partnership, announced by NASCAR today, comes after the popular racing organization said in October it would fuel all races with E15, a 15 percent corn ethanol blend, starting with the 2011 season.

Membership Sets Records, Creates Change

The National Corn Growers Association reached a new membership record in 2010 with rolls listing 36,216 growers at the end of August. The previous record of 36,088 was set in August 2009.

“It is inspiring that so many growers want to personally support our programs and activities,” said NCGA President Bart Schott, a grower from Kulm, N.D.

Working Together for American Farmers

Over the past few years, many groups have launched well-publicized attacks on agriculture. The arguments employed often touch multiple sectors of the industry. In light of this, many agricultural organizations formerly dedicated to serving only their specific group are now considering joint efforts to improve the image of farmers and agriculture as a whole.

“Off the Cob” sat down with National Corn Growers Association CEO Rick Tolman to talk about the importance of cooperation in agriculture.

NCGA Commends Rep. Zack Space for Climate Change Amendments

May 26: The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) has commended Rep. Zack Space (D-OH) for demonstrating leadership and commitment to the agriculture industry during the House of Representatives Committee on climate change legislation, the Energy and Commerce mark-up of H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act. During Committee proceedings on Thursday, Rep. Space offered two amendments that would be beneficial to corn growers and the entire agriculture industry.
