Report Issued during Environmental Protection Agency’s Pollution Prevention Week
In a detailed ‘white paper’ issued today, NASCAR announced it has accumulated more than a million miles of driving in 2011 on America’s toughest proving grounds: the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™, NASCAR Nationwide Series™ and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series™.

Last weekend, more than 100,000 fans, including more than 1,100 American Ethanol supporters, cheered on Clint Bowyer as he drove a special-edition version of his No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, featuring an American-Ethanol paint scheme, during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 400. More than 500 farmers had the opportunity to get an up-close look at how the American-Ethanol NASCAR partnership provides ethanol many high-profile opportunities to educate a fan-base of more than 80 million on the benefits of ethanol.

With an attendance of well over 100,000 and a broadcast audience in the millions, NASCAR’s exciting Daytona 500 – dubbed “The Great American Race” – had a crucial difference this past Sunday: the cars were all fueled with a 15 percent blend of ethanol as part of the NASCAR American Ethanol partnership involving the National Corn Growers Association and Growth Energy.

As the 2011 NASCAR season launches with a new, greener fuel, the nation’s corn growers are joining forces with NASCAR to promote the use of corn-based American ethanol. As an Official Partner of NASCAR, The National Corn Growers Association will leverage its relationship to spread the message to NASCAR fans around the country about the role American farmers play in the development of ethanol.

NASCAR’s announcement Saturday, October 16, that it will race with E-15 fuel in its three national touring series starting next week is great news for the ethanol industry and U.S. corn farmers, the National Corn Growers Association said. It’s part of an important growing relationship that can help those off the farm learn more about where their food and fuel come from.
“We salute NASCAR for taking this great step forward,” said NCGA President Bart Schott, a corn farmer in Kulm, N.D. “With this and the decision by the U.S.
